Childrens Gymnastics | Santa Clarita, CA | Hugo's Gymfitness
Our mission is to be an innovator in youth sports, using gymnastics as a tool to increase athletic excellence in all sports
Hugo’s GymFitness helps kids develop core strength through a wide variety of activities, piquing the interest of even the most reluctant kids. The American Academy of Pediatrics states that kids who gain interest in exercise at a young age create a habit that is likely to last for many decades.
Movement can be the architect of a child’s brain. Gymnastics requires the same coordination between the hemispheres of the brain as reading-building simple movements into a complex skill and combining skills into a routine.
Early Exposure to Gymnastics
Gymnastics requires strength, balance, flexibility and coordination. These are the cornerstones to sound physical
fitness and athletic performance in all sports, but did you know that early exposure to gymnastics can have academic, social, and emotional benefits as well?
Building core strength in children at a young age can benefit them their entire lives-no matter what sport or physical activity they ultimately choose. Gymnastics focuses on the development
of core strength in every activity. Performing a simple forward roll requires core strength to maintain a rounded body throughout the movement, walking across a beam engages core muscles to
maintain balance, and pulling legs up to a bar builds strength in multiple core areas. These are all elementary skills that are
repeated over and over in a 45-minute pre-school class. Whether kicking, bouncing, or passing a ball, swimming for the finish line, or any other physical activity your child may choose, gymnastics provides an excellent foundation to develop the core muscle
strength that will get them started successfully.
Movement can be the architect of a child’s brain. Bilateral movements commonly found in basic gymnastics activities help in the communication between th e left and right hemisphere of
the brain. Reading is a balanced coordination of the left and right
hemisphere. The left hemisphere sees the letter and the right side
comprehends what it sees. Gymnastics requires a similar coordination of building simple movements into a complex skill or
Participating in a group class environment at an early age is
beneficial to helping your child adapt to a school setting. In a preschool gymnastics class, your child will learn to move from
station to station in a sequence, listen to their coach explain the skill, watch a peer demonstrate the skill, and ultimately have the opportunity to try the skill on their own or with assistance. The process is repetitious and teaches perseverance in learning to master new skills, while building your child’s self-confidence so
that they have the courage to push themselves further in all areas.
Hugo Cherre believes that families need to work together when it comes to health and fitness, especially today when our National statistics show high numbers of kids lacking strength and at risk for diseases.
